Chapter 15

SOMEONE WAS on Ethan in the space of a heartbeat, someone with dark blue eyes and gangly limbs, forcing him to stay down, pinning him there with what was probably more force than necessary. Ethan gasped for breath underneath him, his whole body tense under the weight of muscle and bone grinding into him.

Liam.

Liam… but he was younger, skinnier, his hair dark and messy.

“You never learn, do you?” Liam growled out like he was going to break at any second. He forced a knee between Ethan’s legs and shoved his wrists together above his head, daring Ethan to try to struggle.

Ethan grinned wide and stared him down with unwavering eyes, like, challenge accepted, wolf.

“Then teach me.”

Ethan let his head fall back on the soft earth—I think I’m in Cocoa. How did I get to Cocoa? I haven’t been here for years.—and Liam pressed in close for a messy kiss, like a desperate, basic need, more important than air or water or food, or that Ethan’s lips alone could have taken the place of all of them and he would have been just fine. Ethan gave back exactly what he got, making the best use of his mouth and tongue because the rest of him was deliciously restrained.

“How can I when you keep looking at me like that?” He knew Liam could feel the hard line in Ethan’s jeans, and it was the best way to let Liam know he had officially lost what little control he’d ever had of the situation.

Ethan opened his eyes wide in mock innocence and bit his lip like he didn’t know exactly what that did to people. To Liam.

“Think of it as good practice for you too. There’s not much difference between me distracting you like this and, say, a vampire’s spell.” He tilted his head back more, exposing his neck, something Liam could never resist.

Liam tried to look annoyed and failed at it miserably. “Except I’m trying to tutor you in early Christian practices of Medieval Europe and not supernatural self-defense. And vampires don’t actually exist.”

Ethan laughed softly and jerked his hips up into Liam, letting him know in no uncertain terms that World History was history and he needed to focus on the present situation in his jeans.

Liam sighed and rolled his eyes, like fucking Ethan was a huge inconvenience, but they both knew it wasn’t true.

“C’mon, Liam. I can’t focus like this. And my test is Tuesday. I have to pass this class with at least a B to keep my scholarship, you know that.” Ethan grabbed Liam’s hand and guided it to his erection just in case he’d forgotten in the last second that it was there.

Liam traced the outline of it teasingly. “Will you promise to focus afterward? And I mean really focus? Nothing but study, study, study until it’s time to leave?”

“I promise. I’ll know more about Charlemagne than his own mother did by the time we leave today.” He doubted that, and the look on Liam’s face showed he doubted that too, but it didn’t stop Liam from sitting up to unzip Ethan’s jeans.
